Thousands Marching on the State House for 5:00 p.m. Rally for Public Education Funding

BOSTON – Thousands of students, educators, parents, and other supporters of public education are beginning to arrive on Boston Common for a 5:00 p.m. rally and march around the State House to demand passage of bills that would increase state funding for preK-12 public schools by more than $1 billion a year and for public colleges and universities by more than $500 million a year.

At 5:00 p.m., students from Boston, Everett, and UMass Amherst; educators from Boston, Weymouth, Lynn, UMass Dartmouth, Lowell, and Brookline; parents from Quincy, New Bedford, and Lowell; and other supporters of public education, including the leaders of the Boston NAACP, the Boston Teachers Union, AFT Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and the American Federation of Teachers, will address the crowds before students lead a march around the State House.
