Town of Hopkinton Seeks a Full-Time Facilities Custodian for its Facilities Department

Under the direct supervision of the Town Engineer/Facilities Director, the Custodian will perform routine building and grounds maintenance and general custodian activities for town departments and for some semi-skilled mechanical maintenance. The individual may be an Emergency Contact and First Responder to building security and fire alarms for Town buildings in the absence of another Facilities Team Member.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Equivalent to High School Diploma & 2 years experience in a business setting performing building maintenance and cleaning, including semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance tasks.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record required. Must have reliable transportation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with customers.
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public, co-workers, other employees, departments, officials and other agencies. .
• Ability to multi-task in decentralized areas; ability to identify needs for repairs; operates and services light power equipment; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships others.
• General knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and equipment. Basic knowledge of carpentry helpful.
• Ability to read, understand and follow oral instructions. Ability to follow instructions and labels on cleaning supplies and equipment. Ability to follow all applicable safety regulations and town procedures.
• Intermediate level skills with MS Office Suite; strong with Excel spreadsheets required; familiar with Gmail, Google Docs and Smart Phones Preferred.
• Apprenticeship training and/or technical/vocational course work in building and grounds maintenance Preferred.

Full Position Range: $18.89 to $26.53 hourly.
