Town of Hopkinton Seeks a Full-Time Water Technician for its DPW Department

This position performs work related to the installation, maintenance and repair of public water distribution system to commercial, residential and public properties. The Water Service Technician not only operates heavy machinery but performs a full range of complex tasks and works within established procedures and/or policies. At this level, incumbent serves as secondary Drinking Water License Operator and works with occasional instruction or assistance. Work involves frequent interpretation of policies, procedures and guidelines, and may involve the development of recommendations consistent with directives, policies and regulations.
Qualifications - Applicants must meet the following to be considered qualified for this position:
1. High School diploma or GED.
2. Three years (all seasons) full time experience in water service, pipe laying, and heavy equipment operation.
3. Must be able to operate: greater than one ton trucks, front end loader, backhoe, plows, catch basin cleaner, sander, shovel, hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, water sampling equipment, telephone, lawn mower, weed whacker, drills, chain saw, and pipe cutting saw.
4. Must have or be able to obtain the following licenses: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B; Hoisting Engineer’s License; Drinking Water Distribution License; and a Drinking Water Treatment License.

Hiring Pay Rate: $24.1061 hourly
Shift: M-F, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM, on-call and overtime required
