Two Finalists Chosen for Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Mary Ann DeMello, current Assistant Superintendent for the Weymouth Public Schools and Mr. Robert Berlo, current Director of Secondary Education for the Hopkinton Public Schools have been selected as finalists for the position of Assistant Superintendent in Hopkinton.

Superintendent Jonathan Landman invites interested staff, parents, and community members to a public forum to meet the finalists, as input from the community is an integral part of the hiring process for this position. Each finalist will be available for approximately 30 minutes and parents and community members are encouraged to attend and ask any questions that they may have.

The public forum is scheduled for Wednesday, October 19th, in the High School Auditorium at 7:00 PM.

Dr. DeMello holds a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Northeastern University, as well as Master’s degree in Physiology of Exercise from Bridgewater State College. Her undergraduate work was in Physical Education/Health, completed at Springfield College. She is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Weymouth Public Schools, in Weymouth, MA (2008-present). She previously served as Assistant Superintendent for the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District in N. Dighton, MA (2006-2008), and as Curriculum Coordinator for Rockland Public Schools in Rockland, MA (1996-2006). She began her career in education as a Science & Technology Teacher in the Rockland Public Schools.

Mr. Berlo holds a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Lowell. He completed a Teacher Certification program at Worcester State College. His undergraduate work was also in Biological Sciences, also completed at the University of Lowell. He is currently the Director of Secondary Education for the Hopkinton Public Schools (2010-present). He previously served as Director of Secondary Education for the Quabbin Regional School District in Barre, MA (2007-2010), Director of Curriculum (2005-2007) and Director of Technology (1996-2005) for the Gardner Public Schools in Gardner, MA. He began his career as a Chemistry, Earth Science, and Health Teacher for the Gardner Public Schools.
