From the dark and stormy war of passion and will in the 12th century realm of England’s King Henry II, to a contemporary clash of bi-coastal emotional cultures, James Goldman’s “The Lion in Winter” and Neil Simon’s “Visitor from New York” take us on a bittersweet tour of life, love, and love lost.

These two scenes, starring Lynne McKenney Lydick and Richard Clark, offer a seesaw journey into the sometimes “foul rag and bone shop” of the human heart. They remind us of the strange and unexpected forms love can take and uplift us with the message that love, even bruised and broken remains a splendid thing.

The program will take place on Thursday, September 24, at 1:00 PM in the Hopkinton Senior Center, 28 Mayhew Street.

Lynne McKenney Lydick’s stage credits include leads in musicals, comedies and dramas performed throughout New England. In performing “Yours for Humanity – Abby”, a one woman play about 19th century radical abolitionist and women’s rights activist, Abby Kelley Foster, Lynne combines her passion for acting with her conviction “that all people are created equal and deserve to be free.”

Richard Clark is an actor with over thirty years of experience in New England regional theater, New York Theater and television. He is a graduate of Clark University and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Art, The Actor’s Connection, and the Actor’s Loft in New York City.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Hopkinton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
