Representing over 15,000 food and commercial workers and their families, UFCW Local 1445 endorsed Karen Spilka for Congress because of her strong record of fighting for the middle class.

“Karen has never backed down from the tough challenges and we know we can count on her to always be on our side,” said Jim Carvalho, Political Director of Local 1445. “She leads with incredible determination, always finding ways to help bring jobs to our region and grow our economy. She is exactly what we need in Congress, a fighter who stands up for working families.”

Karen's number one priority is ensuring that the Fifth District continues to add jobs and has an economy that works for working people. A former labor lawyer, she is fighting to raise the minimum wage and will always protect workers’ rights to organize and collectively bargain.

“I am honored to be endorsed by the hardworking men and women of UFCW 1445,” stated Karen. "I will continue to work hard every day to ensure that everyone in the Fifth District has access to good-paying jobs with safe working conditions. The middle class is the driving force in our economy and I will do everything I can to support working families."

Spilka has already been endorsed by the Laborers' Local 609, Laborers' Local 22, IBEW Local 1505, the Boston Carmen's Union Local 589, the Building Wreckers Local 1421 and the American Postal Workers Union Local 4553. She also has the backing of the Central Massachusetts AFL-CIO.
