The Hopkinton Center for the Arts has announced the annual Holiday Boutique, running December 5-7, 2014 at the HCA Farmhouse (98 Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton, MA). The Holiday Boutique showcases wares by local and regional artisan crafters. Hours of operation are December 5 from 3:00-7:00 pm; December 6 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm; and December 7 from 12:00-3:00 pm. Members of the public are invited to attend the Holiday Boutique throughout the weekend to view the wares, enjoy refreshments and/or to find out more about the arts center and its upcoming programs. There is no admission charge to the event.

The Holiday Boutique celebrates artisan crafters who work in various media to create unique and primarily handcrafted products. This year’s sale will include items ranging from paper goods, house wares, pottery and jewelry to home décor, clothing, personal products and fashion accessories. “A focus is placed on showcasing crafters who are dedicated to the process of creating artisan goods, giving each item a unique and personal touch,” said Kris Waldman, artistic director.

In addition to connecting artists and the public through exhibition and opportunities for cultural dialogue, Waldman aims for the Holiday Boutique to find its place among other creative economic stimulators. Many of the artisans displaying at the Holiday Boutique are locally based vendors and small businesses that sell products and services in the regional market. Events like this one celebrate the creative fields while generating economic activity in the area.

“Through this Boutique and other gallery events throughout the year, we’re creating opportunities for artists and crafters to connect with the public but also more specifically to connect with potential consumers,” said Waldman. This also highlights the practical application of artistic skills, many of which can be honed and explored through education programs at the HCA itself.
