Dear Vets and Friends,

Come and get it! Vets Breakfast at 0900 hours, 1 April 2016, Hopkinton Senior Center. Chipped beef and more. Plenty of coffee, and conversation with good friends.

Thank you for continuing to build the legacy of Hopkinton's military men and women. Invest a little time at www.hcam.tv/series/veterans/slideshow.shtml , and www.hcam.tv/veteransremember where you must press the big triangle/arrow in the center of the screen to see the video. Both photos and Veterans Remember broadcasts will become a valuable and permanent record of Hopkinton's history.

For those who are even somewhat familiar with Hopkinton's military history, there seems to be a disproportionately greater number of Marines among the veterans. According to 2010 DOD records there were only 13.7% of the USA military in the Marine Corps -- but not here.

Another rough, tough Marine has been discovered in Hopkinton, and who will have available a front row seat at breakfast on 1 April 2016. This Marine carries the nickname "BAM" to demonstrate Corps toughness. Attend breakfast and extend a veterans welcome regardless of your branch of service.

The anniversary date of the beach assault of Okinawa is April 1st -- the same date as the Vets Breakfast. Hopkinton veterans of that battle -- Operation Iceberg -- number 24. Some details are captured here: hpkmam.wix.com/hopvetsonokinawa Click "VETERANS" on the tool bar.

Spring weather is synonymous with spring training, and inevitably Opening Day in about a week's time. Hopkinton Vets have their own Opening Day: www.hcam.tv/news/militarybaseball And more. An opportunity for a free breakfast by answering the monthly baseball quiz: Two MLB players earned 16 consecutive Gold Glove awards. Brooks Robinson is one, who is the other?

Anyone with transportation difficulties, please call Amy Beck on/before 30 March 2016, 508 497-9730. Encourage other veterans to attend the breakfast, and enjoy the camaraderie and good chow.

Members of Amer. Legion McDonough-Carlberg Post 202 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and blessing of the meal.

See you Friday. Out.
