Video: Hopkinton Hillers Sports Update 1-24-2018

-Hopkinton Hillers Hockey took on Ashland on Saturday January 20th. It was another scoring fest for the Hillers. The Hillers netted 3 goals in the 1st period: Sean Walsh (13:37), Tommy Hamblet (13:25) and Kyle Rogers (4:32). Two more Hillers goals in the 2nd period: Will Abbott (14:24), Will Abbott (11:07) and Stephen Simoes (2:51) and one goal in the 3rd period: Kyle Rogers (5:20). The Hopkinton Hillers get the 7-0 victory and improve to 9-1 and 1 on the season.

-Hillers Boys Basketball took on Norwood last Sunday afternoon (1/21). Hopkinton outscored Norwood in both quarters of the 1st half, 14-9 in the 1st and 14-12 in the 2nd to lead 28-21 at the half. Ryan Kester drained three 3-pointers in the 1st quarter. The Hillers offense rallied in the 2nd half scoring 24 points in the 3rd quarter and 16 more in the 4th. Hopkinton took the win 68-54 to improve to 6 and 6.

-On Monday (1/22), The Hillers Girls Basketball team took on a very good Foxboro team. Hopkinton entered this game on a 2 game losing streak. Foxboro outscored Hopkinton both quarters of the 1st half, 15-13 in the 1st and 13-11 in the 2nd to lead 28-24 at the halftime break. The 3rd quarter was back and forth as both teams scored 16 a piece. Reagan Keavany chipped in 7 points in the quarter. The Hillers trailed by 4 heading into the final 8 minutes, Reagan Keavany came through huge posting another 7 points in the quarter. Hillers trailed by one with 6 seconds left and needed a bucket to win the game. A beauty of a pic set up by Ivy Gogolin allows Lilly Morningstar to lay it in and the Hopkinton Hiller Girls come up with the 55-54 come from behind win to improve to 8 and 3 on the season.

-Tuesday night (1/23), The Hopkinton Hillers Boys took on Medway. Hillers outscored Medway in the 1st quarter, 12-11, but the 2nd quarter tipped in favor of Medway as they outscored the Hillers 16-12. It was a 27-24 Medway lead at the half. In the 3rd quarter, Medway struggled offensively and only put up 5 points while the Hillers knocked down 13. It was a 37-32 Hillers led heading into the 4th. In the 4th quarter, Brendan Kelly chipped in with a pair of Field Goals. He was the team leader tallying 15 points overall. The Hopkinton Hillers captured the 55-45 win over the Medway Mustangs. Medway falls to 5 and 7 on the year while the Hillers are now 7 and 6 and 3 wins away from clinching a playoff spot.
