Hopkinton's Water-Sewer Manager, Eric Carty has issued the following message to Hopkinton residents:

"The Town's pumping capacity from its wells is diminishing quickly due to a combination of the continuing drought and a considerable increase in water use. It is now necessary to use water from our Pond Street wells to keep up with water use demand. Those wells contain naturally occurring iron; as such, you may notice discoloration in the water from time to time. That discoloration poses no threat to public health. It is IMPERATIVE that everyone adhere to the current water use restrictions. You can find the details here: Water Use Restrictions. We are quickly approaching the need to enact further restrictions to ensure the safe and adequate supply of water for daily essential needs and fire fighting capability."
