Work begins at the intersection of School and West Main streets on Monday, August 19 as the street light project, approved by Town Meeting in May, gets underway. According to DPW Director John Westerling, traffic impacts are expected to be minimal as most of the initial work is taking place along the shoulders of the road, except for a period of three to four days at the end of September when paving takes place. Work hours for the project are from 7AM to 4PM Monday through Friday and the targeted completion date for the project is October 21, 2013.

Once the work is completed and the new stop light is installed, the light will remain green for both east and westbound traffic unless triggered by cars turning from School Street onto West Main Street. In the winter months when road conditions warrant, the light can be set to flashing to avoid traffic problems coming up the hill on West Main Street.
