With sadness, love, and respect we announce the passing of Ellen Jean (O’Connell) Wright on April 11, 2024, after a long and spirited struggle with multi-system complications. The youngest of seven children, Ellen was born on July 18, 1944, to William and Elizabeth O’Connell of Jamaica Plain, MA, and had fond memories of her childhood. With a twinkle in her eye, she called herself “a thorn in the sides” of her older siblings as they grew up in their four-room city apartment.

Community Notice: 2024 Boston Marathon Road Closures

The 2024 Boston Marathon will be held on Monday April 15th.

On April 15th, roads immediately surrounding the start line and town common (Main St., Ash St., Park St, and Hayden Rowe) will close at 6:30am, followed by all other roads leading into the downtown area and will be closed for general travel as of 7:00am. This year will be consistent with recent years prior. The major roads leading into the downtown area will be blocked at the following locations:

West Main Street at Lumber Street

Wood Street at Elm Street

Hayden Rowe Street at Chestnut

Hopkinton Police Department, Middlesex District Attorney's Office Seek Public's Assistance in Investigation into Serious Crash

Chief Joseph Bennett reports that the Hopkinton Police Department and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office are seeking the public's assistance in the investigation of a serious crash that occurred on Thursday, April 4, on Hayden Rowe Street in the area of Cornell's Irish Pub.

On Monday, April 15th, the 100th Boston Marathon start in Hopkinton will take place. It is one of the biggest Boston Marathon landmark anniversaries ever in Hopkinton and thanks to the 26.2 Foundation and Hopkinton Center for the Arts, it will be celebrated in style!
