Hopkinton Democrats Elect Delegates

Hopkinton Democrats caucused last night (Wednesday, 2/27) to elect delegates to represent Hopkinton at the 2013 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. The convention will be held at the Tsongas Center in Lowell on Saturday 7/13. The primary business of the convention will be to approve the 2013 platform for the Massachusetts Democratic Party.

The delegates and alternates selected were:

Educate Hopkinton Fundraiser at Bertucci's

Educate Hopkinton (eHop) is pleased to announce the organization’s first fundraising event at Bertucci’s in Holliston on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 between 4-9. Come enjoy pizza with your friends and neighbors and support community education in Hopkinton. Bertucci’s will donate 15% of all purchases to Educate Hopkinton. Proceeds from the event will be used to sponsor the May Veteran’s Breakfast at the Hopkinton Senior Center as well as a campaign to increase awareness about the Annual Town Meeting.

Planning Board Public Hearing: Zoning Bylaw and Zoning Map Amendments

The Planning Board met on February 25 to discuss whether to move several Zoning Bylaw and Map Amendments onto the Annual Town Meeting warrant. Items discussed included modifying the setback requirements for storage sheds, changing the name of the Agricultural district to Agricultural-Residential, and changing the special permit granting authority for drive-up windows.

Reduced Price Tickets Still Available for Harlem Wizards

Sunday, March 3rd, 1 p.m. at the Hopkinton High School Athletic Center. Doors will open at 12:15 p.m.

Police Chief Flannery Resigns

Police Chief Richard Flannery announced his resignation during the public forum segment of the selectman's meeting on Tuesday night. His resignation came with little warning, although he did inform the board of his intent during an executive session prior to the start of the meeting. Flannery said that after much reflection and for personal reasons, he would not be renewing his contract. The chief will stay on through the end of the fiscal year and will officially resign on June 30, 2013.

"After 34 years, it's time for me to start a new chapter," said Flannery.

Veterans Breakfast Friday March 1st

Passport Day - March 9

The Boston Passport Agency is hosting Passport Day in the USA, a special event on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications. On this day only, no appointments are needed for applicants at the Boston Passport Agency. You may apply for a passport for routine or expedited service. Hundreds of local acceptance facilities around the country are joining the Department of State in celebrating Passport Day in the USA 2013, a national passport acceptance and outreach event.
