Town Reviews Gas Leak related to Main Street Corridor Project

On Wednesday August 9, A.F. Amorello & Sons, Inc., the general contractor for the Main Street
Corridor Project, hit an active gas line while installing drainage infrastructure near the
intersection of Main and Pleasant Streets. A detail officer reported that a gas line had been
struck and the call was logged with the Hopkinton Police Department at 11:43am. Eversource
Gas was notified and they repaired the leak within a couple of hours. Road closures on Main
and Pleasant Streets were required.

Art on Trail-call for Artists continues - Walk to Inspire -125th running of the Boston Marathon

The Hopkinton Cultural Council is inviting all artists to submit their artwork for display during the “2021 Art on the Trail”.

When: The “2021 Art on the Trail” will begin on Thursday, 7-Oct and will end on Sunday, 17-Oct. (Marathon is on 11-Oct). Artists can begin setup from 4-7 Oct.

Where: The “2021 Art on the Trail” will be held on the Center Trail in Hopkinton. The trail is 1.1 miles long and the trailhead is located on Main Street directly across from Hopkinton Lumber. Parking is in the Respite Center parking lot on the left side of Claflin Place just off Main Street.

FEMA and FCC will test nation’s warning systems at 2:20 p.m.

WASHINGTON -- FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will test the nation’s public alert and warning systems at 2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday. FEMA regularly tests the public alert and warning systems to assess the operational readiness of the supporting infrastructure. The tests also help identify any needed technological and administrative improvements to the systems.

Reminder: I-90 East Bridges Paving Scheduled for Weekend of August 13-16

What is happening?

MassDOT is pleased to announce that the replacement of the I-90 eastbound bridges over Parkerville Road in Southborough and Flanders Road in Westborough was successfully completed ahead of schedule this morning at approximately 4:00 AM. All lanes on I-90, Parkerville Road and Flanders Road are now open for travel.

The project is replacing 8 bridges over 8 weekends this summer between the Route 9 and I-495 interchanges.

MassDOT appreciates your patience during this major infrastructure project.

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton Aug 2nd through Aug 8th was 89.9 degrees, the lowest was 52.9 degrees. Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 70.2 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 80%, the peak was 98% while the lowest was 34%. Rain accumulated 0.97 inches last week. Enter Stage Left Theater Presents “A Play, A Pint & A Pie”

Enter Stage Left Theater presents “A Play, A Pint & A Pie,” a one-night event in homage to the great tradition of Glasgow Scotland theater.

Intended for patrons 13 and older, this outdoor show presents a series of original, one-act plays from writers all over the world. The evening includes two comedies and two dramas with a wide array of themes from aging, equity for women in government, gun control, the death penalty, religion, and the life affirming lessons we all learned from Gilligan's Island.

Hopkinton Garden Club Awards 2021 Scholarship to Tiffany Mikulis

The Hopkinton Garden Club is excited to announce Tiffany Mikulis was selected as our 2021 Garden Club Scholarship recipient. Tiffany was awarded the scholarship at the Hopkinton High School Awards Ceremony in June. She will be attending Haverford College in the fall to pursue a degree in Environmental Sciences.
