2020 Boston Marathon Invitational Entry

Program Policy Adopted by the Board of Selectmen, October 22, 2019
Pursuant Section 2 of the Hopkinton Marathon Policy, the Select Board will distribute invitational applications for the upcoming 2020 Boston Marathon in the following manner.

Invitational entry applications will be distributed to qualified organizations through a random selection that will take place at a duly constituted public meeting. In order to qualify for the random selection, an organization must fit one of two category descriptions outlined in the Town’s Marathon Policy, namely:

Hopkinton Center for the Arts Announces Holiday Events for the Entire Family

Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) is pleased to announce a full line-up of events this Holiday season. Tickets are now on sale for all shows, including a new family concert featuring the Claflin Hill String Quartet, a 50-minute Nutcracker Sweet, and a full-scale production of The Nutcracker ballet, directed by HCA’s new dance program director Jessica Wilson. Shoppers looking for the perfect gift can browse the unique wares at the Primarily Potters Annual Show & Sale (Nov. 22–24) and Shopping for a Cause Holiday Boutique (Dec. 1). Both shopping events are free and open to the public.

Public Hearing Notice: Lake Maspenock Weed Management and Control Advisory Group to hold Public Hearing November 18th, 2019

The Lake Maspenock Weed Management and Control Advisory Group will hold a public hearing on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., at the Hopkinton Library, 13 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA to consider the possibility of applying the herbicides “diquat” and “endothall” in Lake Maspenock in calendar year 2020 in order to control weeds.

All interested parties are invited to attend and comment.

Attendees are requested to park in the overflow parking lot at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 20 Church Street.

Free Community Supper at St. Paul’s November 20

The November Community Supper at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20. (Normally the supper is held on the last Wednesday of each month, but due to the Thanksgiving it was moved up a week.) All are welcome to this event, which is being supported by the churches of the Hopkinton Christian Service Connection.

The meal will feature Chinese food and is free, although donations will be accepted.

Wendy A. Tyler, 75

Wendy A. Tyler, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. She was born on Jul 10, 1944 in Beverly, MA to the late John and Jane (Callahan) Bruce. Wendy was a lifetime member of the Waynedale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed devoting her time volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House for 15 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and making snuggles for the animals at the ASPCA. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and baking.
