Sheriff Koutoujian welcomes Secretary Sudders to discuss behavioral health initiatives during Middlesex Jail & House of Correction meeting

BILLERICA, Mass. – Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian welcomed Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) Secretary Marylou Sudders back to the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction on Wednesday, October 9 for a meeting and tour of the facility.

Community Notice: Smoke Testing of the Sanitary Sewers In October and November

In order to improve the sewer service in your area, on behalf of the Town of Hopkinton, Weston & Sampson will be conducting smoke testing of the sanitary sewers Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the months of October and November 2019.

During the test, white smoke is introduced to the sanitary sewer system via a smoke-generating machine. During this procedure, white smoke will be venting from holes in manhole covers located in the street and from plumbing vent pipes located on or near your roof surface. THIS IS NORMAL AND SHOULD NOT CAUSE ALARM.

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton October 7th-13th was 76.7 degrees, the lowest was 42.6 degrees. Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 54.8 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 85%, the peak was 98% while the lowest was 41%. Wind Speed averaged 1.3 MPH, while reaching a high of 10 MPH. Rain accumulated 0.36 inches last week in Hopkinton. Free Pasta Dinner at St. Paul’s October 30

The October Community Pasta Supper at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30. All are welcome to this event, which is being supported by the churches of the Hopkinton Christian Service Connection. This pasta supper is held for the community on the last Wednesday of every month.

The meal will feature pasta (gluten free available), vegetarian tomato sauce, meatballs on the side, green salad, bread, beverages, and dessert.
The pasta supper is free, although donations will be accepted.

David P. Kurzontkowski 70

David P. Kurzontkowski 70, of Ridgeville, SC died peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2019 with his family by his side. Despite loving life with family in South Carolina for the past 20 years, Dave kept close to his Hopkinton, MA roots by visiting family and friends up North regularly. To say that Dave was a good employee is an understatement. He loved to work and demonstrated a lifetime of loyalty as an accomplished and essential employee at Kuhn Equipment in SC. Restoring antique cars and traveling around the country to car shows with friends was one of his favorite pastimes.

Video: Select Board Recognizes Recipient of the Young Hero Award

The Select Board recognized Remi VanDeusen who received a "Young Hero Award" for getting medical attention to his Father who suffered an allergic reaction after being stung by a bee. Fire Prevention Officer, Tim Healy stated "the Father's Vital Signs were critical and if it weren't for the critical actions of Remi things could have been different."

Remi was recognized by Fire Chief, Stephen Slaman, Fire Marshall, Peter Ostroskey and received a State Citation from Representative, Carolyn Dykema.
