According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton August 12th through 18th was 90.7 degrees, the lowest was 55.9 degrees. Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 72.1 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 79%, the peak was 97% while the lowest was 42%. Wind Speed averaged 3.7 MPH, while reaching a high of 16 MPH. Rain accumulated 0.08 inches last week in Hopkinton. Community Notice: EEE Risk Raised to Critical

On Friday, August 16, 2019, a human case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) was confirmed in a young adult resident of Grafton, Massachusetts. In response, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MADPH) has raised the EEE risk rating in Hopkinton, Grafton, Northbridge, Shrewsbury, Southborough, Upton, Westborough, Framingham, Marlborough, Millbury, Northborough and Sutton to Critical. With the Critical Risk designation, municipal and community leadership are recommended to cancel or reschedule outdoor gatherings, organized sporting events, etc.

-The Planning Board is looking for someone to fill a vacancy on the board. the term would last until the may 2020 election. Those interested should be a registered voter in Hopkinton and apply online by Tuesday august 27th. you can find more details on our website.

-Greyhound Friends recently released a press release stating that they were approved by the town for a kennel license. Greyhound Friends still has to be approved by the State to officially open. The facility is under new leadership.

Video: Select Board Recognizes Scouts Receiving Honors

At Tuesdays Select Board meeting, proclamations were given to several Hopkinton Scouts who received accolades for their work in the community.

Girl Scouts, Emma Bograd and Mallory Peishoff of Troop #72233 recently received Girl Scout Gold Awards. Emma worked on a project to establish safety protocols and regulations for a dog park. Mallory Peishoff came up with a plan to better give access to all residents to Community music events.

Video: Select Board Approve Appointment of Officer, Tyler Brabham to Hopkinton PD

This past Tuesday, the Select Board unanimously approved Chief Edward Lee's appointment of Officer, Tyler Brabham to the Hopkinton Police Department.

Tyler attended Blackstone-Millville Regional HS and Fitchburg State University. Tyler entered the "4 plus 1 program" which includes a Bachelors Degree and attain Police Academy certification. Tyler also was the captain of Fitchburg State University Soccer team. View more below!

Central MA Mosquito Control Project - Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) Update

Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) has been confirmed in mammal-biting mosquitoes in Hopkinton, Westborough and Southborough. With the forecast including a reduction in humidity and warm overnight temperatures, there is a high risk for human contact with mammal-biting mosquitoes. Consequently, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health is proposing to increase the risk rating for the region on Thursday and is advising the residents within the region to utilize insect repellent, wear protective clothing and reduce our time out of doors in the evening and overnight hours.
