Lisa Soo Kane, 38
Lisa Soo Kane, 38, of Framingham and formerly of Hopkinton, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she was the daughter of Susan (Vachout) Kane of Westborough and the late Charles Kane.
Lisa was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Natick. Besides her mother, she is survived by her brother, Jeffrey Kane and his wife, Katie Yahns of Sherrill, New York.
DCR Recreational Advisory: Cyanobacteria Bloom in Hopkinton Reservoir in Hopkinton
WHAT: The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is warning the public of a cyanobacteria bloom present in the Upper Hopkinton Reservoir, including at the waterbody’s beach area, in Hopkinton State Park in the Town of Hopkinton. During a bloom it is strongly advised that the public should not have contact with the water. Additionally, pet owners should keep their animals away from the shoreline to prevent them from ingesting the water. The waterbody will be retested until cyanobacteria levels are within acceptable limits per Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations.

Mendon resident, Richard Cormier is the new Athletic Director at Hopkinton High School. For the last 3 years he served as the Athletic Director at Foxboro High School and the 12 years before that as the Head Coach of Boys Basketball and a Teacher at Norwood.
Rich mentioned that the move will allow him to spend more time with his family. "The ability to be a little bit closer to home, run home and see my kids before a night game is definitely appealing on a personal level."

Baypath Humane Society around Town: Local animal shelter participates in events around Hopkinton
As we look forward to crisp autumn days, Baypath Humane Society is pleased to share that it will be participating in fun fall events across town. Look for the distinctive Baypath purple tent to hear about dogs and cats looking for new homes and to learn about volunteer opportunities in and out of the shelter.

Community Notice: Hopkinton Family Day Time Change Due to EEE Threat
The Friends of Hopkinton voted at its meeting on Tuesday, August 28, 2019, to change the time of the Saturday, September 14, 2019 Family Day event to 2 PM to 6 PM. The Fireworks show has been cancelled. President Ann Click, stated “this is in response to the EEE outbreak. However, in the Hopkinton tradition, Hopkinton Family Day on September 14 is still going to be a wonderful family event”.
Mosquito EEE - Update 8/27/2019
Aerial mosquito spraying was conducted as planned in parts of the spray zone in Worcester and Middlesex counties overnight. The MDAR spray map has been updated to show the sections that were sprayed - https://massnrc.org/spray-map/middlesex-worcester.htm.
Community Notice: Cedar Street Water Main Installation Update
Please be advised that the water main installation on Cedar Street has been completed. The next step will be to flush the main which will take place on Thursday, August 29th at approximately 9AM. You may notice some air or discoloration during and after the test. Please run your cold water to clear your pipes.
Once the main has been chlorinated and disinfected and passes testing, crews will begin connecting home and business services to new pipe.
