Due to a mechanical breakdown the roadwork scheduled for 7/16 & 7/17 has been rescheduled to the following.

8/17 – Fruit St from Wood St to Cunningham St. Road will be closed from approximately 7am-12pm.

8/17 – Castle Hill Rd - Full length. Road will be closed from approximately 12pm-4pm.

8/18 – Lincoln St – Full length. Road will be closed from approximately 7am-3pm.

Please expect delays and seek alternate routes.

The Publisher/Founder of the Hopkinton Independent, Sarah Lothrop Duckett, announced today that the 20-year-old publication has been sold to two local people. The new owners, David Bagdon and Susanne Farber, bring a wealth of experience in community journalism to their new roles. Bagdon, who will serve as publisher, has been the independent publisher of the Community Advocate Newspaper for 34 years. Farber, who will be the director of business development, has been the advertising account manager for the Hopkinton Independent for 16 years.

Roadwork is scheduled to begin on the following streets.

8/16 – Fruit St from Wood St to Cunningham St. Road will be closed from approximately 7am-12pm.

8/16 – Castle Hill Rd - Full length. Road will be closed from approximately 12pm-4pm.

8/17 – Lincoln St – Full length. Road will be closed from approximately 7am-3pm.

The July Community Pasta Supper at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25. All are welcome to this event, which is being supported by the churches of the Hopkinton Christian Service Connection. This pasta supper is held for the community on the last Wednesday of every month.

The meal will feature pasta (gluten free available), vegetarian tomato sauce, meatballs on the side, green salad, bread, beverages, and dessert.
The pasta supper is free, although donations will be accepted.

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton June 23rd through June 30th was 92 degrees, the lowest was 48.8 degrees. Average temperature during the month in Hopkinton was 68.5 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 69.5%, the peak was 98% while the lowest was 26%. Wind Speed averaged 2.4 MPH, while reaching a high of 13 MPH. Rain accumulated 1.66 inches last week in Hopkinton. Just days before - September 7th, to be exact - Enter Stage Left Theater, the resident theater company of the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, presents Hamiltunes.

This innovative singalong gives middle and high school students from Hopkinton and surrounding towns the chance to "take their shot" at singing the songs on stage while the enthusiastic (and often costumed) audience joins in.

Starting the week of July 2, Town staff began moving back to 18 Main Street. Town business will continue to operate out of 80 South Street until all employees are back at 18 Main Street, which is scheduled to be complete on July 16th. There may be some minor delays in service on Friday, July 13, when the last employees are moved from 80 South Street to 18 Main Street. Overall, departments at 18 Main Street are located on the same floor as they were before.

Roadwork is scheduled to begin on West Elm St from #9 to Old Farm Rd on 7/12. Work hours will be approximately 7am-4pm.

The road will be closed from #9 to Pond St on 7/12 & 7/13 from 7am-4pm.
