Members of the Hopkinton Police Department Biking 300 Miles to Raise Money for Law Enforcement Memorial

Sgt. Aaron O'Neil, Det. William Burchard and Sgt. Van Raalten of the Hopkinton Police Department will once again be participating in the Police Unity Tour to raise funds for the Law Enforcement National Memorial in Washington, DC. This 4 day bike ride covers over 300 miles from Northern NJ to Washington, DC in May.

They are asking for community support in raising money and awareness of fallen officers. This year they will be riding in memory of Auburn Police Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr. and Massachusetts State Trooper Thomas L. Clardy.

Notice from Town Clerk: Last Day to Register to Vote in Town Meeting & Town Election is April 11

The last day to register to vote in the May 1st Annual Town Meeting and May 15th Annual Town Election is Tuesday, April 11th.  My office will be open late from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM to allow residents time to register.  You may also register online at the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website (https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/).  If you are unsure if you are registered to vote check online (https://www.sec.state.ma.us/VoterRegistrationSearch/MyVoterRegStatus.as

Video: Hopkinton Resident Talks Chamberlain-Whalen Neighborhood Coalition

Over 50 Hopkinton households joined together in a neighborhood coalition. A letter sent out to numerous town officials including Town Manager, Norman Khumalo, the Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, Police Chief and Fire Chief. The letter from the Coalition stated that it was started to preserve the character of neighborhoods that would be affected by a proposal by developer, Paul Mastroianni which would add 34 new homes on a road that would connect Chamberlain Street and Whalen Road.

Hopkinton High School Students Seek to Increase Legal Sale Age of Tobacco

On March 29, a group of students from Hopkinton High School went to Boston to attend the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s annual state lobby day. "This year, more than 2,800 Massachusetts kids will become new daily smokers. These youth advocates are working to change that." They met with lawmakers to urge support of a comprehensive tobacco control bill, which would, among other things, increase the legal age of sale of tobacco to 21.

Artist Catherine Weber will present an artist talk, Into The Woods: The Meaning and Muse Behind the Art. A body of Catherine’s latest work, Filling the Gaps: Encaustic on Wood, will be on display at the HCA between 4/20/2017 – 5/17/2017.

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton last week was 58.9 degrees, the lowest was 24.3 degrees. Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 38.3 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 83.1%, the peak was 98% while the lowest was 30%. Wind Speed averaged 1.2 MPH, while reaching a high of 7 MPH. Precipitation accumulated 2.98 inches last week in Hopkinton. The Hopkinton High School honors art display opened up at the Center for the Arts with the public reception on March 30th. The work of Hopkinton High School students; Elizabeth Henneberry, Emily Dembinski, Athena De Lasse, Sarah Lincoln, Sadie Morgan, Sasha Hagan, Lauren Ness and Wyatt Elliot will be on display until April 11th.
