Amendments to Transportation Planning Documents Released for Public Review

The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will release draft Amendment Five of the federal fiscal years (FFYs) 2015–18 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and draft Amendment One of the FFY 2015 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) for a 30-day public review period, which will begin on Monday, August 3, 2015, and end at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.

Fatima Day in August

On Thursday, August 13, the Xaverian Missionaries will hold the traditional Fatima Day celebration in honor of Our Lady. It is going to be our Fourth Fatima Day in 2015. This year’s theme is on Our Blessed Mother Mary in the writings of St. Guido M. Conforti, founder of the Xaverian Missionaries. Sing-along at 6:30 PM followed by Mass at 7:00 PM. At 8:00 PM, there will be a Rosary and Candlelight procession followed by refreshments served in the Shrine’s Hall. The main celebrant and homilist will be Fr. Rocco Puopolo, sx. Fr.

Art on the Trail

Sunday August 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. for the Opening Ceremony at the Center Trail Parking Lot across from Hop Lumber. Art will be on the Center Trail throughout
August and September for public viewing. Featuring art created by the Michael Lisnow Respite Center, Senior Center, Golden Pond, Serenity House, Girl Scout Troop 85290, and many local artists and poets.

Poetry on the Trail will take place Sat. September 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. A group of local writers will read poems inspired by the sculptures and the trail.

Marion E. (Davis) Burke, 92

Marion E. (Davis) Burke, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in Connecticut after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Newton, daughter of the late Albert W. and Florence (Tully) Davis, she moved to Hopkinton in 1942 where she was married and raised her children. As a devoted wife and mother, "Meme" created a welcoming and loving home.

Jimmy Hervol Captures 2015 Massachusetts Junior Amateur Championship Title at His Home Course of Hopkinton Country Club

Hopkinton, MA — It all seemed to fall into perfect place for Jimmy Hervol (Hopkinton CC) on Wednesday afternoon. After all, it was his course, his year and his time.

In front of a gallery of friends, family and club members the 17-year-old Hopkinton native captured the 2015 Massachusetts Junior Amateur Championship at his home course of Hopkinton Country Club.

“It was awesome,” said Hervol. “I was able to represent the club. Everyone here was supporting me. In order to win it in front of my friends and family was great.”

Gov. Baker Extends Hours to Pools and Beaches

Cambridge- July 29, 2015- With the forecast of potential 90 degree weather expected throughout the remainder of the week, today, Governor Charlie Baker joined Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Matthew Beaton and Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Commissioner Carol Sanchez to announce that hours of operations at many of the state’s pools, beaches, and waterfronts will be extended to 7:30 PM from Friday, July 31, 2015 through Sunday, August 2, 2015.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell upheld Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's 4 game suspension. Tom Brady was suspended 4 games in May after footballs used by the Patriots in the AFC championship game against the Colts were found to be inflated under the NFL requirements. 11 of the 12 footballs used in the first half were found to be under the league limit by approximately 1 PSI.

Zoning Advisory Committee Vacancy

The Planning Board is seeking residents interested in serving on the Zoning Advisory Committee. The Board is looking for residents who will be energized and committed to addressing various zoning related topics in depth, and committed to attending regular evening meetings generally from September through February. The Planning Board is looking forward to appointing a vital, creative and energetic Committee. The work program for the Committee will be developed following a Public Forum in the fall of 2015. Terms are for one year, and no prior experience is necessary.
