Work Begins on the Sky's the Limit Courtyard at Hopkinton Middle School

Additional Donations are Key to Opening Doors this Fall

July 22, 2014 --- Preliminary work has begun on The Sky's the Limit Courtyard at Hopkinton Middle School in an effort to open the doors to the courtyard for the 2014-2015 school year.

Plumbing and electrical work is currently in progress to prepare for masonry and door installation. In addition, updates to the security system, adaptations to ensure compliance with ADA Accessibility standards and initial landscaping to provide proper grading and drainage must be completed before Phase II can begin.

Anthony J. "Tony" Vento, 59

Anthony J. "Tony" Vento, 59, died Monday, July 21, 2014 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was the husband of Deboroah (Dailey) Vento, to whom he was married for 38 years. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Barbara (Patch) Vento. He was a 1973 Hopkinton High School graduate and was employed as a heavy equipment operator for MWRA.

Police Warn of Solicitors and Scams

Recently, Hopkinton residents have contacted the Police Department regarding solicitors who have come to their residence. The Town of Hopkinton has a Solicitor By-law, Chapter 150: Door to Door Soliciting or Canvassing that controls the activities of private or corporate solicitors. The Town of Hopkinton Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Career Firefighter / Paramedic. Completed applications inclusive of all required documentation as listed below must be mailed or delivered in hand at the HR Department, 18 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748. Applications can be picked up at this address or may be e-mailed upon written or electronic request. West Main Street Crash Kills 1

On Monday July 21, 2014 at approximately 3:46 PM, Hopkinton Police responded to a serious motor vehicle accident in the area of 251 West Main Street. Upon the officers’ arrival, a vehicle was found to be overturned in the roadway. The operator and sole vehicle occupant was found unconscious inside the vehicle. The operator was administered first aid and transported to the Milford Regional Medical Center by Hopkinton Fire Paramedics. The operator was pronounced deceased a short time later.
