MIAA REPORTS SUCCESSFUL FALL SEASON

Franklin, MA - The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) announced the recently completed fall season and tournament was very successful. In a report sent to MIAA member schools William Gaine, Executive Director, said, “By all our usual measurements we had an excellent fall season. The credit for this goes to the hundreds of site directors, school officials, tournament personnel and others who assist in staging the events.”

The fall season includes cross country, field hockey, football, golf, western Mass gymnastics, soccer, swimming/diving and volleyball.

Kevin S. Johnson Fundraiser on Saturday

On January 20, 2014 Kevin Johnson, formally of Westborough, died tragically. Kevin leaves behind his fiancée Stefanie Garner and her 4 year old son Seth, as well as their 4 month old son Shane. Kevin’s mother and father who are residents of Westborough, mourn their second oldest son as he leaves an older brother Brian, younger sister Jennifer and youngest brother Brandon. He also has a 4 year old nephew, Travis.

Fiance of Stefanie Garner of Hopkinton, father of Seth, 4, and Shane, 4 months; son of Bruce and Nancy (Manassa) Johnson of Westborough; brother of Brian Johnson of Auburndale, Jennifer Stevens of Westborough and Brandon Johnson of Westborough; grandson of Stanley Manassa of Westborough and Carroll and Jane Johnson of Brewster; uncle of Travis Amero. HHS College Admissions Evening Workshops for Juniors and Their Parents

Thursday, February 13, 2014, 7:00- 9:00 pm at the HHS Auditorium

Presented by the HHS Counseling Department

The evening program will begin with a brief presentation by the Counseling Department in the auditorium on finding “the right fit” in the college admissions process. Immediately following the presentation students and parents will choose to attend one workshop from each of the three sessions.

Hillers roll to their 4th win in a row

Powered by a hat trick from Alex Terry and goals by Cam Finlayson, Brendan O'Leary, and Nick Aggerbeck, Hopkinton defeated Northbridge 6-1 yesterday at Navin Arena. Billy Allen, Jordan Carroll, Tom Motyka, Robbie Cole and Brendon Anderson, all had assists. Danny Collins had another outstanding game allowing only one goal in the last three games. The Hillers had both a Power play goal by Terry and a shorthanded goal by Finlayson.

B.A.A. Distance Medley Registration to Open Wednesday, January 22

BOSTON – The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that registration for the 2014 B.A.A. Distance Medley will begin on Wednesday, January 22 at 10:00 a.m. ET and will continue until Wednesday, January 29 at 5:00 p.m. ET. During this exclusive registration window, runners interested in entering all three events of the B.A.A. Distance Medley may register for the series. Registration will be held online at www.baa.org and will be limited to 3,000 entrants. Each of the three races will have its own field size limit.
