Joint Meeting to Review Hopkinton-Ashland Fire Collaboration Tonight

The Ashland-Hopkinton Fire Collaboration Study Group, assisted by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission(MAPC) and Municipal Resources Inc., will present an update on the Ashland-Hopkinton Fire Collaboration Study project to a joint meeting of the Ashland and Hopkinton Boards of Selectmen at the Faith Community Church, 146 E Main St, Hopkinton, at 7:30p.m., October 30, 2013.

Today Representative Carolyn Dykema (D-Holliston) sent a letter to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission highlighting reasons that Foxwoods is not a suitable business partner for the Commonwealth as it seeks to bring casino gambling to Massachusetts.

Hoptoberfest Raises Over $18,000 for the Renovation and Expansion of Library

Hopkinton Public Library Foundation’s “Hoptoberfest,” a fun night of tasting, generated over $18,000 for the planned expansion and renovation of Hopkinton Library. Held on Friday, October 25, 275 guests enjoyed samples of numerous local microbrews, name brand beers and food from local restaurants and caterers including Tavolino, Marathon Restaurant, Commonwealth BBQ, Red Rock Grill & Bar, 5 Star Sweets, Mexico City Taqueria, Zaftig’s, the Bagel Bistro, Fish Restaurant & Wine Bar, Oliva’s, Not Your Average Joe’s, Ray & Dick’s Bakery, Pan Thai and Owen O’Leary’s.

The Hopkinton Hiller Cheerleaders proved once again why they are one of the best cheer squads in the state. They competed Sunday October 27, 2013 at the Marlboro Cheer Invitational Competition in Marlboro, MA. This was a large competition; with a morning and an afternoon session. There were 33 teams in the first session (Hopkinton was in the first session) and 21 teams in the second, afternoon session. The girls came in second in the morning session missing first place by only HALF A POINT.

Clare E. Molloy, 84

Clare E. Molloy, 84, died Friday, October 25, 2013 in Sudbury after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Morgan P. Molloy, Sr., to whom she was married for 59 years. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Claire (Brine) Burke. She was a graduate of Lowell State College and received her master's degree at Lesley University. She taught for 25 years in the Hopkinton public school system.

The 17th Annual Pumpkin Prom – This Sunday!

The HPTA is honored to be taking over the Annual Pumpkin Prom event, a special father-daughter dance previously hosted by the Lion’s Club. The event will take place on October 27th from 5:30 until 8 pm in the Hopkins School gym and cafetorium. Fathers or other special adults can enjoy dancing with their daughters to music selected by D.J. Kathi Zerkle. There will be raffles, refreshments and a craft. Corsages and keepsake photos will be available for purchase.

Hopkinton High School Pep Rally Playbacks

The 2013 Hopkinton High School Pep Rally will play back many times throughout the weekend. Saturday, October 26 playback times are 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM for HCAM-TV and 6:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:15 PM on HCAM-ED. Sunday, October 27 playback times are 12:00 PM and 9:00 PM on HCAM-TV and 8:10 AM, 6:30 PM, and 9:00 PM on HCAM-ED. The Pep Rally will continue to air for two weeks on HCAM-ED after the weekend.
