ALL OF MASSACHUSETTS EXCEPT BERKSHIRE COUNTY... AND RHODE ISLAND.

* UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING

* SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE DEVELOPING ACROSS THE AREA. HEAVY RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE WITH ANY OF THESE STORMS WITH LOCALIZED RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER AN HOUR.

Lieutenant Wallace Named Interim Chief

The Town of Hopkinton is excited to officially announce today that it has hired an Interim Police Chief!
Current Police Department Lieutenant Charles Wallace has agreed to be the Interim Police Chief for the
next six months. The contract also includes a provision that allows the parties to extend the contract for
one or two separate three-month terms, while the Town conducts a comprehensive search for a new
Police Chief.

Main Street Construction Update

Starting tomorrow Main Street will have two travel lanes. The parking at the municipal spots on Main Street will be temporarily restricted in the construction zone. Therefore the parking spots that will be utilized for vehicular traffic are from Old Town Liquors to the Main Street/Cedar Street/Grove Street intersection. This area is considered the construction zone for tomorrow. These parking spots will be cordoned off at the close of business today. The affected businesses will be notified the day before for use of the parking spots.

FREE Drive-In Movie on the Town Common Postponed to July 1

Due to forecast for severe weather tonight, the FREE Drive-In Movie on the Town Common this originally scheduled for Thursday, June 27th has been rescheduled for Monday, July 1st. The movie begins at 8:30pm. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to the Town Common to view a family movie "Drive -In" style. This week's movie is Thunderstruck.

"We hope to see you all there!" said Jennifer Floyd, Director Hopkinton Parks and Recreation.

Special State Election Results: Markey Beats Gomez But Not in Hopkinton

According to the results from Town Clerk Geri Holland, a total of 3,259 votes were cast in Hopkinton in today's Special State Election and while Gomez was unable to win statewide, he did come out on top in Hopkinton with a total of 1,876 votes to Markey's 1,368. The Associated Press projected Markey as the winner at around 9:15 and the Boston Globe is projecting Markey with 55%, Gomez with 45% and Heos with 0%.

Dunkin Donuts Passes 6-1

The Planning Board voted 6-1 to approve a Major Project Site Plan for a Dunkin Donuts at 78 West Main Street. Applicant Virginio Sardinha Jr., attorney Michael Healy, architect Manny Tavarez from MJ Tavarez Architects, engineer John Kucich from Bohler Engineering, and traffic expert Jennifer Conley from Conley Associates were present at the meeting.

Traffic Alert on Hayden Rowe at Chestnut

A STRUCTURAL ISSUE WITH A BUILDING ON HAYDEN ROWE ST. (RTE 85) NEAR CHESTNUT ST. IS CAUSING TRAFFIC TO HAVE TO BE DETOURED AT THIS LOCATION.

THE STRUCTURE IS BEING ASSESSED AT THIS POINT TO DETERMINE WHEN THE ROAD CAN BE RE-OPENED

TRACTOR TRAILERS ESPECIALLY SHOULD AVOID THIS AREA AT THIS TIME.

EXPECT HEAVY DELAYS IN THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.
