This poetry series is for the merging of minds and souls
of poets, musicians and other performing artists as well as
those simply coming to listen. We provide a forum for
a variety of talented, accessible and connecting poets to
share their words and to get people excited about the
diversity of voices, perspectives and insights expressed
through the medium of poetry.
This program is offered jointly by myself as
host/ producer and by HCAM Station Manager Jim Cozzens.
Admission is free but there is a passing of the hat for the
features. There are very talented poets and musicians on
board for this coming season. You can sign up for reserved
seating and open mic below. Open mic slots are limited and
available on a first come first serve basis. (More

Tara Greenblatt
...percussionist/singer-songwriter
and storyteller hails from Boston's vibrant folk
scene and has been performing all over New England
for over seven years . Matt Smith of Club Passim
has called her an "innovator." With a
single djembe drum, Tara pounds out
foot-tapping rhythmic landscapes to back her
effortless melodic and soulful voice. In a
storyteller style, she draws you into life’s
light and dark currents. Cross-cultural
relationships, love, drowning both literally and
figuratively, the joys of simple life, motherhood,
and the struggle to be true to oneself, are just
some of the subjects she sings about. She
Her two cds include ‘River Belly’
(2005), and Tara’s debut CD "Caught
Between the Woods and the Road" www.drumtara.comwww.drumtara.com

Oen Kennedy, ...singer-songwriter

Songwriting Contest and a frequent performer on
the Boston folk music scene.. He is currently
working on a new cd soon to be released and his
first four albums have received frequent

featured on the "Best of Boston CD" in
2003. Oen is a regular at such venues as Club
Passim, House of Blues, Jonny Ds, The Kendall
Café, The Nameless Coffee House, Uncommon
Coffeehouse, and many others. He has also

Bird, Priscilla Heardman, Phoebe Snow, and many
others. ---"Oen Kennedy is musical, he’s
subtle, he’s irresistible and he has an innate
sense of the innocent soul in every one of us.
Weaving birdsong and exotic instruments into his
music as naturally as dew gathering on grass, his
songs embrace the natural world with a gentle
intelligence that is altogether unique. Oen can
fill a room with melody and birdsong and take the
people in the room to a far and magical place. . .
Earth." -Marilyn Rea Beyer, Music

Open Mic Information:
HCAM Studios offers a supportive and professional setting
for open mic where contributing writers and artists
can share their words of poetry, song or story while
being filmed before a live audience. There is a
limited sign-up and a limit of four minutes per open
mic contribution. Please bring material suitable for
sharing on public television and sign a release form
if you would like to be considered for inclusion on
the televised program. Participants are
encouraged to sign up in advance at poetry@hcam.tv
as open mic spots can be limited with
attending audience ranging from 20-50 each month.
People come from near and far sharing poetry, spoken word and
songs, some for the first time and some who are
seasoned writers/performers. Regardless of
experience, those who have performed at the open
mic in the last three seasons have traditionally
offered their best for this friendly and professional
setting. This has resulted in a showcasing of a
very special blend of impressive talents within each
month's program so that most performances are included
in either the monthly "Wake up..."
series or the "All Open Mic" program.
If you are interested in reserving an open mic spot
or simply in reserving a seat to watch as audience,
please sign up above.
