bCalm Power Yoga Holds Grand Opening

By Michelle Murdock, Freelance Writer

A large crowd turned out for the grand opening of bCalm Power Yoga last weekend. Beginning at 9AM, yoga enthusiasts, as well as yoga beginners and well wishers joined owner Lesley Reilly as she opened the doors of her new yoga studio in Hopkinton.

“It’s so exciting, I can’t believe it,” said Reilly. “It’s like a dream my dream come true. It’s amazing to see the depth of support from the community.”

The opening was a day long event, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony, raffles and giveaways and free classes of bCalm’s special style of power yoga. Classes at bCalm are inspired by the Baptiste Method of Power Vinyasa Yoga. This type of yoga has a strong emphasis on breath and allows beginners, intermediate and advanced students to be challenged in the same room. Reilly is one of only 100 certified Baptiste Yoga instructors in the world.

Four additional instructors join Reilly in teaching classes at bCalm. One is local resident Colleen Allen who is looking forward to being close to home.

“It’s five minutes down the street,” said Allen. “It’s just amazing working at the studio. I feel like a real teacher.”

Another instructor is Georgi Gospodinov, a native of Bulgaria who began teaching yoga while attending graduate school in the United States.

“It is a little bit different from the classical yoga,” said Gospodinov. “There is no preaching, there is just using the breath.”

bCalm Power Yoga is located at 61 Wood Street in Hopkinton. Visit their website for more information about classes.
