Boy Scout Troop 1 Provides Christmas Trees and Customer Service

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Christmas trees of a variety of sizes and types line the Colella's Supermarket parking lot. It is all for Boy Scout Troop One's annual Christmas Tree Sale. The troop took over the responsibilities of coordinating the sale from the Lion's club in 2008, and greatly appreciate the town's support over the years.

The Scouts are selling both Fraser and Balsam trees. Trees range in size from 4 feet all the way up to over 10 feet. The cost depends upon the size of the tree, and can be anywhere from $25 to $95 dollars.

Although there is always at least one parent volunteer assisting the scouts, the scouts do the overwhelming majority of the work. The scouts are in charge of all aspects of the selling process, including setup such as unwrapping and labeling the trees, as well as customer service.

The proceeds from the sale help support many of the activities that the scouts do each year.

The sale will continue until every tree is sold, and Vos estimates the scouts will be selling trees up until Christmas Eve.
