Construction Career Day Encourages Students to Join Construction Industry

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Every year, over 1,500 students from across the state come to Hopkinton for Construction Career Day held at the New England Laborers Training Center, for a hands-on education in a potential career path not always discussed in a traditional classroom setting. Those involved with the 2-day program, held on May 1 and 2 of this year, hope to generate excitement about the opportunities in the construction industry.

As part of the students' exposure to the world of construction, they had the opportunity to interact with those currently working in the industry as well as experience a wide array of disciplines within the field including welding, equipment operation, safety, as well as engineering design. Overall, there were about 150 construction related companies at the event including colleges and other industry professionals.
