A Day of Learning at the Fire Station Open House

By Courtney Taylor, Master Control

The Hopkinton Fire Station held its annual Open House on Saturday, October 16th, at the end of Fire Prevention Week. The Open House shows residents what the firefighters do when they are called to an emergency and gives advice on how residents can be safe in their homes.

Parents and children showed up to take part in the event. One of the oldest fire trucks was displayed side by side with one of the newest. People at the event walked around the trucks to get a better look at them, and children explored the insides of the trucks. Children and parents also saw a demonstration of how the technical rescue equipment carried on the back of a rescue vehicle is used. Even Sparky the Fire Dog showed up during the event to say hello and meet the children who were there.
