Don't Miss Caroling on the Common and Tree Lighting on Saturday

By Michelle Murdock, Freelance Writer

The annual Caroling on the Common and Tree Lighting, sponsored by the Girls Scouts in conjunction with Hopkinton Parks & Recreation will take place this Saturday, December 4th at 4PM.

According to Girl Scout Leader Lee Burns, this tree this year is bigger than ever. Donated by the Boy Scouts, the tree was decorated by Burns' Troop 72975 last weekend in anticipation of the lighting on Saturday. Singers from the Hopkinton High School chorus will be on hand, as well as performers from ESL Theater. Cookies and cocoa will be provided by Parks & Recreation and special guests Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to listen to everyone's holiday wish list.

The Girl Scouts will be accepting gently used or new books and residents can also donate a gently used coat for the One Warm Coat program which collects and distributes coats to those in need. Since it's inception in 1992, One Warm Coat has collected and distributed over 1.5 million coats.

The Marine Toys to Tots prorgram will also be accepting donations of new toys.
