Fall Sports Season Underway!

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

The Hiller's fall sports season is officially underway! On September 6th, the boys' cross country team kicked off their season with a 17-47 win over Ashland. The 5k race goes through the state park. And with about 50 members on this year's Hiller's team, one of the largest ever, the team had 6 runners place in the top 10. The team's next meet will be against Westwood on the 12th.

The 7th featured a double header. Kicking off the night, the girls' volleyball team beat Franklin in three straight sets. The team, which also won its opening match against Ashland in 3 straight sets, was led by team caption, Senior Tess Chandler's big night who had 17 kills, 15 digs, and an ace.

Following the girls, it was time for some Friday night lights football with a blowout victory against Newton South 35-0. Quarterback, Senior Hank Rudden, completed 6 of his 8 passes for 159 yards, including a 28 yard touchdown pass to Senior Shaun Palmer. Most of the team's scoring was through their running attack, led by Junior Nolan Cornu's two touchdown runs. Linebacker, Junior Kyle Clark had a huge game defensively to help preserve the shutout, recording 3 sacks and an interception.

Next up, the volleyball team will face Norton on the 14th, and the Football team will take on Nipmuc Regional in Upton on the 15th. Replays of all televised volleyball and football games can be viewed either the night of the game or on Saturdays on HCAM-Ed, Comcast channel 96 or Verizon channel 31.
