Help Kathy Curry Reach Her Fundraising Goal

By Michelle Murdock, Freelance Writer

Hundreds of painted bells, sporting phrases like "Dad Goes the Distance", "Run Like a Girl" or "Cheaper Than Therapy" are packed in boxes in the room over Kathy Curry's garage, waiting for the day they will help fund the Daniel E. Colella Scholarship fund.

On Monday, April 16th, Curry, a Hopkinton resident, will be both running and ringing for charity. Over the past 20 years, Curry says she has run a total of 11 marathons in various places, but in Boston, it's all about giving back. This will be her 4th year as a charity runner for the Daniel E. Colella Scholarship Fund.

Acccording to Curry, it's for the kids that didn't have everything given to them, but have to work hard; a reminder of what she felt she went through in her younger years and she feels it is her turn to give back.

In addition to running, Curry also plans to donate the proceeds from the sale of her bells to the fund. Her booth on the Common has become a familiar site on marathon weekend in Hopkinton and this year wil be no exception.

As a runner, Curry hopes to raise over $3,000 this year, but realizes it may be harder to do this year, but if you would like to support her, visit her fundraising website or stop by the Common on marathon weekend atnd buy a bell.
