Heavy suitcases lined the sidewalk outside the High School as parents hugged their daughters farewell and wished them good luck. February 14th, the day that the Hiller Cheerleaders would leave to go to Atlanta, Georgia to compete at 2013 Cheersport Nationals, had finally arrived.
This is the second year in a row, and fourth time in five years, that the team has qualified for Nationals, where they will compete against a thousand other top teams from across the country. At last year's Nationals in Orlando Florida, the team placed sixth in their division, and out of all the teams at the competition, were honored with the Best Sportsmanship Award. And like last year, expectations to do well are high.
Leading up to the competition, the team was hard at work practicing their routine, as well as organizing fundraisers in order to afford the trip to Nationals. Be sure to cheer on the Hillers as they compete at Cheersport. Their performances can be streamed live online at dartfish.tv. The team is slated to perform at 12:16 p.m. on Saturday the 16th and at 11:44 a.m. on Sunday the 17th.
