HHS Cheerleaders Place 5th in Nationals

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Hopkinton - Heavy suitcases lined the sidewalk outside the High School.... Parents hugged their daughters farewell and wished them good luck. February 14th, the day that the Hiller Cheerleaders would leave to go to Atlanta Georgia to compete at 2013 Cheersport Nationals, had finally arrived.

This is the second year in a row and fourth time in five years that the team has qualified for Nationals, where they competed against a thousand other top teams from across the country. At last year's Nationals in Orlando Florida, the team placed sixth in their division and out of all the teams at the competition, were honored with the Best Sportsmanship Award. And like last year, expectations to do well were high.

Leading up to the competition, the team was hard at work practicing their routine as well as organizing fundraisers in order to afford the trip to Nationals. And all that hard work paid off as the team placed fifth in their division, one spot better than last year.
