High School Fitness Center Renovated

By Tom Nappi, News Director

The Hopkinton High School Fitness Center went under renovations this summer, which included a new floor, paint and art work. Wellness Director Bruce Elliot talked to HCAM News about the renovations.

"The project has been 2 years in the making, thanks to the athletic boosters club and Hopkinton Public Schools we were able to bring this together." "We were able to get a lot of new and innovative tools and equipment into place but also free up space at the same time."

Bruce Elliot touched on how the design for the fitness center was created; "we worked with Perform Better, which is a national company that designs fitness centers, and they designed a 3d schematic that allowed us to decide better how to maximize space and equipment. "The project itself has freed up a lot of space but brought in some top of the line equipment as well." "Perform Better is a national company based out of Rhode Island and they work with a lot of high schools, college's and professional teams across the world. "They do fitness center renovation and design, they were kind enough to come out and design the room so their is much more function and space."

Elliot then touched on the student reaction when the fitness center was revealed; "The student reaction was astonishment, just a big wow." Elliot expressed that the complete overhaul to the fitness center was unexpected and thrilled the student body, the project was especially a treat to some of the athletes that came in early like the football players.

The top of the line equipment and the very well managed space should give the Hopkinton student body, teachers and faculty a great fitness facility for years to come.
