Hopkinton Native Gets Ready to Become a Marine

By Tom Nappi, News Director

In the first Friday of every month local Military Veterans meet at the Hopkinton Senior Center for breakfast. This month at the breakfast they welcomed Hopkinton native and soon to be Marine, Thomas Shambo. Shambo graduated Hopkinton High School last June and is the Son of 12 year Navy Veteran, Alicia Shambo. His desire to join the military started at a very young age; "I knew I wanted to be in the Military when I was 5... My Mom would come into school and would talk about the Military and it kind of sparked it." Thomas started training in the 8th grade in which he did a 5 week summer boot-camp, he was also a 3 sport athlete in High School and has been training throughout the summer to get ready for the 13 week boot camp in Parris Island, South Carolina.

In the video below some local Marine Veterans had some advice to offer Thomas Shambo about Parris Island and HCAM News talked with the soon to be Marine.
