Lt. Governor Tours Caliper/PerkinElmer

Lt. Governor Timothy Murray toured Caliper/PerkinElmer on Thursday, March 8 to highlight job creatioin and business expansion in the life sciences industry in Massachusetts. The company is one of 28 life science companies recently approved by the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center to receive tax credits as part of the Center's tax incentive program.

Caliper/PerkinElmer was awarded $1.2 million with a commitment to create 50 new jobs.

The awards are generally given to companies that have transitioned or are transitioning from pure life sciences research and development to commercialization and manufacturing.

Murray's tour was led by Rick Ekstrom, Caliper's Senior Director of Operations and IT and PerkinElmer's Director of Global Technical Support, Jeffery Killian.. The two led Murray on a short tour that highlighted Caliper's different work areas and showed products being made right here in Hopkinton.

Following the tour, Murray chaired a meeting of the Governor's Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Advisory Council that took place at Caliper/PerkinElmer.
