A New Way to Learn Grammar at Hopkins School

By Courtney Taylor, Master Control

Miss Smith's and Mrs. Tremblay's classes in Hopkins School recently performed the musical Pirates from Grammar Island. Combining humor and song, the musical follows the adventures of Captain Comma and his crew as they search for grammar to take back onto their ship, and teaches students grammar along the way.

The idea for doing the musical came from Heather Smith, an English teacher at the school who was looking for a more interesting way to teach grammar.
There are many different songs in the musical, such as The Sentence Song (insert quick clip from room 101)...

Watch the HCAM News video to learn more and to hear what the students think about the play.
