Old Town Liquors

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Ever since prohibition ended in the 1930s, 70 Main Street in Hopkinton has always been a liquor store. Recently the building, which was formerly known as Star Package Store, was bought and renovated by Bill Tetlow. Now, Old Town Liquors, Tetlow says he picked the name to reflect the store's location.

Tetlow hopes that his store will help to revitalize the downtown area.

To maintain the old town feel, Tetlow shied away from decor that resembled a typical package store such as neon lights and advertising. Instead, there's a fish mounted up on the wall by the spirits, a deer head up near the wine, and a wood stove by the cases of beer. All which Store Manager Pam French believes create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

In keeping with the theme of staying local, the store prides itself on its selection of local craft beers. And as they continue to develop customer relationships, they hope to expand their selection.

To that end, they have a special deal on wine, in which a customer can order a case of wine, even if the store doesn't sell it, for a 10% discount. And starting soon, the store hopes to have beer and wine tastings on Fridays and Saturdays.

Old Town Liquors is open Monday through Saturday 11am to 11pm and from noon to 11pm on Sunday. Watch the HCAM News video below for a look inside!
