Origami Workshop at the Hopkinton Library

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Karen Beaver has been making items out of origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, since she was a child. And for the past few years, the Nashua New Hampshire librarian has toured around area libraries to teach patrons how they can create origami pieces.

On December 11th, Beaver presented her workshop at the Hopkinton Public Library, in which the class, who consisted of mostly origami novices, got a chance to make a few holiday ornaments.

Previously, the library has held other origami workshops, which have been geared toward kids. But this one was designed for both kids and adults alike. Beaver believes that not only is origami a fun activity for all ages, but it also gives those who create it a chance to bond together.

Following the success of this workshop, Library Director Rownak Hussain hopes to have other similar programs at the library in the future.
