By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

September was another busy month in Hopkinton.

As the school year kicked off, so did Hiller's sports. The Football Team got underway winning their first two games of the season before losing their last one to TVL rival Holliston on the 27th. Although dropping their first two home games of the season, the Girl's Volleyball Team is currently 2nd in the TVL with a 9-2 record. Similarly, the Boys Track Team also lost their home opener, but are now 3-1 on the season. And the Boys Soccer team got their first win of the season on the 20th rallying behind community support from Hopkinton Youth Soccer players. The double header also featured the Girls Team, who lost to TVL rival Bellingham.

In other school related news, new Superintendent Dr. Cathy MacLeod held a meet and greet hosted by the Chamber of Commerce on the 17th and Elmwood students got to journey across the world in a program sponsored by the HPTA.

In other community events, volunteers from Bose Corporation spent the entire day of the 12th sprucing up community organizations, including the library, community members came together for a day of peace on the 20th, and the 39th annual Polyarts Festival brought out several local artisans, vendors, and organizations on the 28th.

Town safety officers were also busy this month, not just aiding in emergencies, but honoring their own. On the 9th, the Police Department recognized Officers Thomas Griffin and Patrick O'Brien for their 30 years of service and on the 28th, the Fire Department held a party for retiring firefighters Bob Santucci and Ed Wright.
