Varsity Soccer Night at the Fruit Street Fields

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Hiller pride was in full force on Friday night as both the girls and the boys varsity teams took on TVL rival Holliston. The doubleheader gave Hiller fans their only chance of the season to cheer on both teams at the same time on the Fruit Street turf fields. The games, which were held at the Fruit Street Athletic Complex, served as the springboard for Hopkinton's Youth Soccer's Varsity Night, which allowed the Hiller's youngest supporters a chance to get in on the action as well.

Besides watching the games, there were a variety of activities that let the kids show off their spirit. The first 100 kids in attendance were given posters that they could get autographed by the players after the game. And the Superfan contest brought out everyone's enthusiasm as a group of judges rated each participant on their creativity and pride. Katie Walters, who won in her age group, was thrilled when she found out she had won.

Besides Varsity Night, Normandeau is also helping to coordinate the annual 3v3 Columbus Day soccer tournament.

All of the fan support helped push both teams to victory as the boys doubled up Holliston 2-1, and the girls shutout Holliston 1-0. Watch for more information about the upcoming Columbus Day 3v3 tournament. For more details or to register, visit the Hopkinton Youth Soccer website.
