By Tom Nappi, News Director

Treasurer of the Friends of the Hopkinton Library, Barbara Beale, presented the Hopkinton Library Foundation Chair, Laura Barry, with a $5,000 check towards the Library expansion project at their temporary home at 65 South Street.

The Hopkinton Public Library shut down their home at 13 Main Street last month, so the $11.8 million dollar library expansion and renovation project could start. The plan was voted through at Town Meeting in 2014. Beale mentioned that the check is the 2nd installment on the $15,000 the Friends of the Library have committed towards naming rights of the Wi-Fi Cafe. The Friends of the Library also donated $5,000 at the start of the project for naming rights to the staff room.

Hopkinton Library Foundation Chair, Laura Barry said the partnership with Friends of the Library has been has been a very close and beneficial partnership; "We greatly appreciate the support of Friends of the Library, our very closely assimilated organization who does separate fundraising but has supported Hopkinton Public Library Foundation from day 1 and our mission of raising money for the new building.. we appreciate it and enjoy working together."
