Video: Hopkinton Police Promote Two, Welcome One

The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the Hopkinton Police Department promotions of Officers Aaron O' Neil and Matthew McNeil to Sergeant. The Selectmen also unanimously approved the addition of Officer Matthew Santoro.

Sergeant, Aaron O' Neil is an Army Veteran who served as a Sergeant in the Military Corps. He was granted multiple medals for achievements in the Military. O' Neil graduated Westfield State with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently enrolled in a Masters Degree Program. Sergeant O' Neil has been with the Hopkinton Police Department for 17 years and has also served as a Bike Officer, Fire Arms Instructor and recently was appointed President of the Hopkinton Police Association. O'Neil also ran and completed the Boston Marathon as well as completed 6 unity tours in honor of fallen officers, riding his bike from New York to Washington D.C.

Sergeant, Matthew McNeil is a 16 year veteran of the Hopkinton Police Department. McNeil is also utilized as an EMT, Motorcycle Officer, Firearms Licensing Officer and specializes in fingerprinting, photography and is the Manager of cruiser camera operation. McNeil has a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. Sergeant McNeil has also been recognized as the M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) officer of the year multiple times in Hopkinton and Middlesex County.

New addition to the Hopkinton Police Department, Officer Matthew Santoro is a 23 year old Shrewsbury native. He graduated Umass-Amherst with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and received a certificate in Criminal Justice. Santoro entered the Boylston Police Academy in August 2015 and graduated this month.
