Video: Lose it for the Library Winners Receive Prizes

By Tom Nappi, News Director

Crossfit Resilience hosted a month long program to benefit the Hopkinton Public Library expansion and renovation project. 167 people participated in the Crossfit Resilience "Lose it for the Library" program and just over $5,000 was raised. 50% of the proceeds was split between the male and female winner of the program, while the remaining half was donated to the Library expansion project. Each winner walked away with $1,252.50, while the Library received $2,505.

Ted Barker-Hook was the male winner, he dropped nearly 37 pounds; "it was hard, it took discipline..if you can see the pounds melting away and you think you have a chance to help out the library and win some money along the way, it worked out okay."

The female winner, Alicia Cox dropped 16 pounds; "It was a great month, I go to Crossfit everyday...but the diet was the big thing.. very lean, meats and green vegetables, it was tough to stick too."

Barker-Hook mentioned he will be using his winnings to buy a new dishwasher and donating some of the winnings to a school in the Dominican Republic. "I plan to give a portion of whats leftover to a school, i'm a teacher and we had a service learning trip to the Dominican Republic last spring and the school is desperately, desperately poor, at one point a student was looking for a pencil... and it took us 20 minutes to find a pencil at the school." Barker-Hook mentioned that they have already sent several hundred dollars to the school. Katie Cox mentioned she will be using some of her winnings to pursue further College education.
