Kelsey Simonson caught up with new Hopkins Elementary School Principal Tim Kearnan.
Tim Kearnan talked about his thoughts on taking over the role of principal: "With a change in leadership their is going to be some anxiety and fear with those changes and I want to make sure that parents, the community members, kids and teachers know that I know what I am doing and Hopkins School is in good hands, and I want to establish a relationships that are necessary to make the school function and be as successful as it is ."
Principal Kearnan also addressed the co-teaching movement: "The Shift to co-teaching is an exciting one, it's also a little bit scary and anxiety producing, as I said a change of any sort tends to cause anxiety. I'm looking forward to this change because I think it's going to be a huge benefit to our kids and it's going to work very well for teachers. One of the things that I'm looking to do is to make sure that it works, if it's not producing results and improved achievement gains for our kids and it's not working for teachers, then we have to look at what can we do to change the model and what can we do to support the kids and teachers involved."
