Video Segment: Baypath Humane Society Summer 2014 Update

By Tom Nappi, News Director

Baypath Humane Society had a very busy Summer in 2014. Liz Jefferis of the organization told HCAM News; "We have had somewhere around 85 adoptions, right now there are only 5 dogs here but that could change anytime." Liz also talked about Duke, a hound at the society who is very friendly and available for adoption.

Baypath Humane Society works with many programs and various rescues such as; Pittyloverescue (a Pitbull rescue) and local animal control centers throughout the state and country. The staff is trained to evaluate dogs and treat them for pretty much whatever they need. Liz also talked about how the Baypath Humane Society works with a lot of organizations in the south due to the lack of spay and neutering.

The Baypath Humane Society makes sure all their animals are up to date on shots and medical treatment. In many cases an interested adopter is allowed to take an animal home to make sure it is a good fit for their home. Liz talked about the prices for adoption "an adult Dog is about $320, a Puppy is $380. A Senior (7 and up) is $150. Cats can be adopted for $200 a Kitten, $125 for an Adult, $50 for Senior Cats." Liz mentioned that the adoption fees include the up to date shots and medical treatment, which for the price is cheaper than the private market and the money is going to the rescue and care efforts of the Center.
