"The Hopkinton Garden Club congratulates its members Henry Schmidt, Deborah Coleman, Kathy Yankee, Audrey Dempsey, Liz Swenson, and Merylyn Mezitt on winning the blue ribbon in the Design Division’s “Circle of Life” Club Competition.
“Circle of Life” requires a buffet table design for six or more set for a baby shower. Four competing clubs each select a baby (past or present) for their intended shower recipient. Our members chose Peter Rabbit as their “baby” thinking it would be fun to work with and easily accessorized by the participants personal peter rabbit themed pieces.
The group also received the Club Competition Award, a top honor for receiving 95 points or higher in the design scoring."
Henry Schmidt of the Hopkinton Garden club stated they were the only club to pick a fictional character as the theme and it was an enjoyable experience working on the project with the club; "we work as a group, there's about 5 people that work as a group and the Garden Club always gets a long good together." Schmidt said it's always nice to finish in first place but it's about having a good time putting together the display and bonding with the club.
