Video: Selectmen Promote Stephen Slaman to Permanent Fire Chief

By Tom Nappi, News Director

The Board of Selectmen reviewed Fire Chief Stephen Slaman. Slaman has served as active Fire Chief since Chief Ken Clark retired at the end of 2015.

Slaman was one of the final 2 candidates in the initial search process for a new Fire Chief, after the other candidate, current Framingham Chief, Gary Daugherty dropped his candidacy just prior to a selectmen meeting in December. Selectmen decided to reopen the search process while appointing Slaman as interim chief.

Many residents disagreed with decision and felt it was unfair to Slaman to not give him the position permanently. The board readdressed the Fire Chief position at the January 5th meeting and decided to appoint Slaman as Fire Chief until the final day in March and in the meantime decide if the search process should be reopened.

At the April 5th meeting, Selectmen expressed satisfaction with what they saw during Stephen Slaman's time as Fire chief.
